The 3 days of Agata

The « 3 days of Agata » mobile appliance has been developed in 2014. It is available in free download. It allows the visitor to discover more information about the events that took place by end of august 1944 in the Montormel area.

The concept

The appliance « The 3 days of Agata » is a geo-localised visit to be discovered in family, by driving to the different key places of the last battle of Normandy, around Montormel, in the Orne department.

The scenario

Agata, a young British woman of Polish origin, takes us in the footsteps of her grandfather, who fought in the army during the Second World War. With only a few old photos and the word “Maczuga”, she discovers the key places and the terrible moments of the last battle of Normandy in August 1944.

Main contents and functionalities

  • Several audio contents: the voice of Agata and the tone of an old radio transmitter recall the events, along with archive documents and photos;
  • An interactive map, detailed with augmented reality allows guiding and localization of the different places on the battlefield;
  • Additional features: war archive photos, information about soldiers fighting and living conditions, overlap the present landscape. 

The appliance, proposed by the Memorial of Montormel and the Council of the Department of Orne, is available in french and english.
